As Womex 2022 convened in Lisbon, Portugal, the Galician city of A Coruña has been declared the host for next year.
At a ceremony with the city’s mayor, Inés Rey, and members of the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries and Culture of the Provincial Council of A Coruña, Womex Director Alex Walter praised the city’s facilities, from infrastructure and cultural venues but also for its friendly, cosmopolitan nature.
Womex claims to be ‘the most international and culturally diverse music meeting in the world’ and every year since its 1994 inception in Berlin, a European city is chosen to host thousands of musicians and music industry figures who converge for talks, debates, workshops, concerts, films and a trade fair.
