One of the UK’s leading higher education institutions for the live events industry has responded to the call for career versatility with three new Masters’ degree courses.
Aimed at bolstering creative and technical skillsets, Backstage Academy says the qualifications will allow graduates to move more easily between disciplines and acquire business leadership disciplines. The courses will begin in January 2021 comprise MA Live Event Design, MA Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Live Events and MSc Creative Technologies for Live Events.
‘With the issues posed by Covid, the degrees present an ideal opportunity for people to retrain and reinforce their employability, whether as graduates, or for those later in their careers, in developing new skills and getting ahead of the competition,’ says the Head of Backstage Academy, Rachel Nicholson. ‘They will be able to retrain from January to December 2021 and enter back into the industry will new additional skills in spring 2022, when we expect the industry to be well and truly back on track.’
Backstage Academy opened in Wakefield, Yorkshire 10 years ago, offering undergraduate degrees and short courses for the live events industry. It re-opened the campus this month and was credited by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education for its communication with students during the current crisis. The institution has recently been accepted as a member of the Independent Higher Education Group.
