VOCES8 Foundation nominated for the Best Classical Music Education Initiative award

London-based music education charity VOCES8 Foundation is one of three organisations nominated within the Classical Music Education Initiative category in the Music & Drama Education Awards 2020, sponsored by Classic FM.

The VOCES8 Foundation works with 40,000 young people every year, and the VOCES8 a cappella group is one of the only vocal ensembles in the world to have started its own centre for vocal music, outreach and education. Their published resource for teachers, The VOCES8 Method, encourages whole-school music-making in a way that links music with literacy, numeracy and linguistics. The Method is used in thousands of schools around the world and is now published in four languages.

The Classical Music Education Initiative Award, voted for by Classic FM listeners, honours an education project that has used classical music in an innovative way, shown musical excellence and had a positive impact on a significant number of participants. The other nominees in the awards category are the National Schools Symphony Orchestra and Chineke! Junior Orchestra.

Taking place on 4 March 2020, the Music & Drama Education Awards celebrate the extraordinary contribution made by professionals, companies, charities, schools and other organisations to the lives of others through the medium of these two key performing arts.
