London music community Tileyard and Singapore boutique publishing company Prolific Songs are offering a month of online workshops and three-day commercial songwriting camp, Hit Academy Asia.
Producers and songwriters will host workshops on songwriting, vocal development, music production, artist development, music business knowledge and more. This culminates with the Hit Academy Asia commercial songwriting camp at Noivil Studios in Singapore on 21-23 October. There, participants will work with a new hit songwriting team each day to live industry briefs from Prolific Songs and other major music companies, including Sony Music and Universal.
This will be a unique opportunity for aspiring and professional songwriters to gather and craft new material with established creators from Tileyard’s huge music community in London, along with hit writers and producers from Prolific Songs roster, such as Charlie Lim and Tat Tong.
The resulting songs will benefit from listenings at record labels and publishers in Singapore and the UK, in keeping with Tileyard Education workshops’ reputation for placing material with the likes of BMG, Felt Music, Netflix, Channel 4 and Sony Music among others.
‘I’m excited and grateful to be part of Hit Academy Asia, which has put together a great team and a grounded, practical curriculum that I wish was available when I was starting out in my career,’ said Lim. ‘I am really looking forward to help contribute where I can and help budding artists find their voice in the process.’
Tileyard’s development into the largest music hub in the UK has changed the direction of music production. With over 100 individual production studios within its King Cross, London complex, major hit artists and producers in residence and the presence of labels and publishers, it is little surprise that it has developed a successful education arm.
Led by platinum-selling producer and member of Heaven 17, Martyn Ware, Tileyard Education is a unique post-graduate and professional training facility in the midst of a dynamic creative community.
Tileyard Music Partner Michael Harwood said, ‘Studying at Tileyard you’ll be surrounded by dozens of real-world creative music projects and people. The campus is buzzing with more than 1200 professionals so if you want to connect to what’s really happening in the music industry you can’t find a better place!’
Beyond the degree courses, Tileyard has also developed a number of workshop and creative camp programmes, of which Hit Academy Asia is one of the latest, borne out of its collaboration with Prolific.
All levels of experience are welcome to apply for the workshops and camp and payment details for the full programme can be found here.
