soundLINCS celebrated 20 years of music development on 1 June 2018.
With over 40,000 workshops delivered and more than 1,000 videos and music tracks published online or on CD, the Lincolnshire-based community music charity has brought music to hundreds of thousands of people since it was founded in 1998.
To mark the anniversary, soundLINCS hosted a drinks reception, bringing people involved with the company together to reminisce, party and make music as they looked back over 20 years of music-making.
New Tricks Older Adults Music Service
The following day, several groups from New Tricks, soundLINCS’ Older Adults Music Service, came together for a public performance at The Blue Room in Lincoln.
This marks the beginning of a year of events and sharing for soundLINCS which will:
- embark on a number of large new projects
- share toolkits and academic research on an international stage
- host events to get more people across the region making music
soundLINCS CEO, Nikki-Kate Heyes MBE, said:
‘We are thrilled to have reached our 20th year. It has been an exhilarating journey and the birthday celebration will be the start of yet another exciting year of growth and development. We’ve got some incredible plans and aspirations throughout the year and we hope that as many people as possible will get involved.’
