Organised by Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the 2023 edition of the Singapore International Piano Festival will be held 4-11 June and features Nelson Goerner, Tengku Irfan, Jonathan Biss and Pierre-Laurent Aimard alongside Leon McCawley and Shaun Choo.
The event takes place in Victoria Concert Hall, one of the oldest buildings in Singapore
The Singapore International Piano Festival was established in 1994, when solo piano recitals were a rare event in the city state. Now in its 29th edition, the festival has become a highlight of the international music calendar and today is Asia’s leading piano festival.
The current festival director, Lim Yan, is the first in the 29-year history of Artistic Directors of the festival to be an active performing pianist. A student of well-known Singapore piano teacher Lim Tshui Ling, he attended Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, UK from 1993 under the tutelage of David Hartigan and Ronan O’Hora, and subsequently graduated from the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music. In 2006, Lim Yan received the Young Artist Award, Singapore’s highest accolade for artists below the age of 35.
