Following a meeting between management representatives of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) and Prince Andrew’s office on 21 November, and a subsequent meeting of the RPO board of directors, the orchestra announced that it would part company with its royal Patron with immediate effect.

Prince Andrew has also left his role as Patron of English National Ballet, a position he had held for 18 years.

Earlier this week, Prince Andrew announced his withdrawal from public duties ‘for the foreseeable future’, following a widely criticised BBC television interview about his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
