Nordoff & Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity, is set to host the Northern Music Awards to celebrate the best of music from the North of England and to raise funds for the organisation. The inaugural event will take place in Manchester on 30 November 2023.
Spice Girl Melanie C will receive the Special Recognition award for her outstanding contribution to music and will also be performing at the awards show. The line-up of live performances will be announced in stages.
Nordoff & Robbins provides music therapy to thousands of people each year in the UK, with Greater Manchester being their biggest delivery area. As part of the porganisation’s five-year vision, it aims to enhance connection, reduce social isolation, and improve mental health and well-being for more people across the North of England.
The charity plans to open a permanent, multi-disciplinary music-making and therapy space in Salford, Greater Manchester, offering free access to music for individuals and communities who have the least access to arts and culture. The Northern Music Awards will help to fund this new space.
