The Music Publishers Association (MPA) has announced that applications are open for the Richard Toeman Scholarship (RTS) 2019.
The scholarship, which has been part of the MPA’s education and outreach initiatives since 2006, is awarded to two outstanding candidates each year.
The scholarship winners will receive a range of benefits including free or discounted entry to MPA training and professional development courses, £500 towards further training and professional development and business coaching provided by an independent consultant.
The Scholarship is named in memory of Richard Toeman who died suddenly in March 2005 following a successful 40-year career at Josef Weinberger Ltd. Throughout his career, Richard gave generously of his time and expertise to the MPA and to the music publishing business as a whole.
Paul Clements, MPA Group Chief Executive said:
‘The MPA understands how important it is to nurture the next generation of music publishers. Now in its 13th year, RTS continues to support the development of newcomers with bright prospects to benefit our industry. Whether working at major international publishing companies or independent publishers, past awardees have gone on to lead successful and notable careers.’
Tom Bladon, Grand Rights Licensing Administrator, Music Sales Group and an RTS recipient in 2018, said:
‘Receiving the RTS at the start of my career has given me the confidence, knowledge and platform to break into the Music Publishing world. I have taken part in numerous training, networking and social opportunities, all of which have been invaluable to me.
‘The MPA is a great organisation with a dedicated team who have helped me establish myself in the industry. I thoroughly recommend all students seeking guidance and experience in Music Publishing to apply to the MPA’s RTS 2019!’
