Music practice buddy app nSpireMe has announced a ‘pre-seed’ funding round totalling £300,000, raised from leading technology venture capital firm Forward Partners.
The London-based business was founded by Stuart Barr, a renowned former orchestral conductor who has worked with artists including Sir Elton John, Paloma Faith and Dame Shirley Bassey. The company has developed a practice buddy app which listens to children as they practise and gives them feedback in real time, enabling them to accelerate progress and develop more intrinsic motivation to practise. The three-way platform also brings together the child’s parents and teachers, enabling them to understand children’s progress better.
Stuart Barr said:
‘We are incredibly pleased and proud to announce this successful raise of pre-seed capital from Forward Partners. Over the past few months we have been working with the Forward Partners team to launch our product, which excitingly we now have done. Initial traction has been encouragingly strong and we look forward to supporting many more students throughout the coming school year.’
Luke Smith, investor at Forward Partners, said:
‘The way in which children learn musical instruments hasn’t progressed for centuries, despite the huge innovations in technology. Between lessons children can often feel unsure that they’re making progress and parents and teachers feel very in the dark. We believe Stuart can change this and we’re excited to invest in nSpireMe.’
