MUSIC HUBS IN ENGLAND

What are music hubs?

Music hubs (or music education hubs) are groups of organisations in England – such as local authorities, schools, other hubs, art organisations, community or voluntary organisations.

The organisations within the hub work together to:

  • create ‘joined-up’ music education provision
  • respond to local need and
  • fulfil the objectives of the hub as set out in the National plan for Music Education
Hubs are coordinated by the hub lead organisation, which takes on responsibility for the funding and governance of the hub. The hub lead organisation is often the Local Authority music service.

The total amount of hub funding from the Department for Education, via Arts Council England, in the 2018-19 financial year is £75 million.
