Hi George and many thanks for your useful insight, and suggestions for helping those trying to engage with music technology. I am the UK Education Manager for Steinberg, the makers of Cubase, Dorico, WaveLab, Audio Interfaces and many Apps. I visit many educational institutions and fully endorse everything you say. As a collective, we really need to find a better way of helping and supporting teachers in their use of music technology. I look forward to seeing what you will be able to produce, and would like to work with you on providing any additional resources that may be of use.
    Best wishes

It’s great that you have started this conversation and resource and I look forward to seeing how it develops. I think an important point to add at the outset is that technology is not just a different way to compose and create but that it can enable people, like myself, without grades or people with physical and cognitive challenges, to realise their potential as creative musicians and contribute to the cultural landscape in ways that pre-tech they may have been denied. Really pleased to see this section on Music Education UK. I work with http://www.themusicworks.org.uk and music technology is a central part of what we do, from whole class iPad music programmes, to out of school clubs using music technology in all sorts of ways to support and enhance young people’s music making, as well as being an ‘instrument’ in its own right – we look forward to watching this section!
