Low Kee Hong to join Manchester International Festival as Creative Director

The current Head of Theatre, Performing Arts at West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) in Hong Kong, Low Kee Hong, will take up a new role in Manchester in April 2022. He will work with the Manchester International Festival team to prepare for the opening of its new venue, The Factory, in 2023.

The current Head of Theatre, Performing Arts at West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) in Hong Kong, Low Kee Hong, will take up a new role in Manchester in April 2022. He will work with the Manchester International Festival team to prepare for the opening of its new venue, The Factory, in 2023.

Low has been responsible for formulating the WKCD’s artistic direction and strategies for Contemporary Performance, Dramatic and Theatre Arts. He has previously worked as Artistic Director and General Manager of Singapore Arts Festival and as Founding Director and General Manager of the Singapore Biennale.

Low Kee Hong said, ‘I am truly honoured and excited to be given this amazing opportunity to work with Manchester International Festival and The Factory. It is an organisation I have always admired for its visionary and bold take on what tomorrow can look like.
