Juilliard School receives $10m match-funding challenge

New York’s Juilliard School has accepted a challenge from the Jerome L. Greene Foundation to raise $10 million in new scholarship endowment funds by the end of 2023.

The Greene Foundation has been supporting Juilliard’s scholarship programs for almost four decades, with the goal of removing economic barriers for students to pursue their artistic passions.

Juilliard aims to provide an educational environment where all students can thrive without obstacles, and the removal of financial barriers by providing scholarships is a crucial component of this effort. The Greene Foundation’s $10 million challenge will help to provide more opportunities for talented musicians, dancers and actors to pursue their studies at Juilliard.

The challenge requires Juilliard to secure $5 million in commitments by 31 December 2023. After this target is reached, the Greene Foundation has pledged to provide up to $5 million in matching funds. Donors who contribute $100,000 or more will have the opportunity to name their fund and double their gift. Scholarships can also be named in honour or memory of someone special, and each gift can be supported by up to 10 individuals.
