John Simpson sails off into the sunset at Rockschool

Suzanne Harlow has been named as successor to John Simpson as CEO of RSL Awards Ltd (Rockschool) when he steps down in the new year

Suzanne Harlow has been named as successor to John Simpson as CEO of RSL Awards Ltd (Rockschool) when he steps down in the new year.

After seven years of developing RSL into a globally-recognised music qualification provider, Simpson will assist the transition before embarking on a five year sailing circumnavigation.

Suzanne Harlow, a former director of Debenhams, will lead the RSL management team to create new syllabuses, digitise the entire learning, teaching and examination operation and expand the company’s international reach.

‘Our company is in great shape and has a very solid base,’ says Simpson. ‘The leadership team now in place boasts capabilities in digital, data, design, academically benchmarked materials, marketing and global operations. These broader capabilities are essential for solving the increasingly complex challenges facing students, teachers and parents and will ensure the business continues to move forward.’

RSL’s founder Norton York thanked John Simpson for his leadership and welcomed Harlow’s appointment. ‘We are delighted to have Suzanne joining us and providing the leadership to ensure our continued upward trajectory,’ he said.
