Scotland's national music school for children age 9 to 19

St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh, is currently recruiting for a full-time Music Administrator to work in the School Office. This is a full-time, permanent post, working 37.5 hours per week.

The successful candidate will have proven administration and organisational skills with a high standard of verbal and written communication. They will be a quick learner with excellent attention to detail, who relishes logistical problems and has good musical knowledge.

A flexible and positive attitude to work is important, with a calm and approachable demeanour. The post-holder should be able to work independently and as part of a small team.

The Music Administrator will be one of a team of administrative staff headed by the Bursar and will work alongside the Headteacher’s PA, School Administrator and Receptionist & Office Administrator in the School Office.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting the Director of Music;
  • Communications with instrumental staff and visiting musicians;
  • Managing the daily room timetable;
  • Arrangements and logistics for concerts, masterclasses, assessments, chamber music and events;
  • General administration including database and diary entries;
  • Deputising for School Office staff as required.

The post-holder should be able to work independently and as part of a small team.  This is an exciting time in the School’s history and the successful candidate will become part of a vibrant and unique institution where no two days are the same.

This is a full-time, permanent post of 37.5 hours per week, 8.15am to 4.45pm Monday to Friday.  The School offers competitive salary rates and a contributory pension scheme.
