Scotland's national music school for children age 9 to 19.

St Mary’s Music School, Edinburgh, is seeking to appoint a Boarding House Manager, to be responsible for boarders’ welfare and pastoral care. The post-holder will manage a team of full-time and part-time boarding house staff, alongside the Headteacher, and with support from the Head of Guidance and School Bursar.

The successful candidate will work closely with all boarding house staff to develop consistent and effective pastoral care of all boarders. Working with the Head of Guidance, the Boarding House Manager will be responsible for ensuring the boarders’ wellbeing and happiness is met and ensuring boarders remain safe and well looked after. In addition, the Manager will work with teaching and support staff, to share good practice and develop a school-wide approach to pastoral care.

The Boarding House Manager should be energetic, adaptable and sympathetic to the needs of young musicians and should have a background or training in pastoral care.

The Boarding House Manager will be required to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), General Teaching Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council, General Social Care Council or other approved regulatory body. It is expected that candidates will have already obtained suitable qualifications to complete this requirement. The school would support the post-holder in completing further qualifications, such as the SVQ 4 Care Services Leadership and Management course or similar.

The post will be full-time, permanent, and commences in August 2019. There is a competitive salary, generous holiday allowance and contributory pension scheme available.
