Composition webinar: Ideas for getting started in the Broad General Education (BGE) classroom

About the webinar

John Gourlay will focus on aspects of the composition projects that he has led with Kirkcaldy Orchestral Society since 2014. The most recent involved S3 pupils in a Dunfermline secondary, winning the Making Music Award 2020 for ‘Best project with a focus on new music’ along with work with pupils in east Fife schools. John will cover aspects of stimulus, the management of the process and the presentation of outcomes.

Greg Brown will focus on how to use basic music technology in the classroom to incite creativity amongst BGE pupils. His session will deliver an alternative approach to composition focussing on the practical technique of sampling and the use of loops and live recording.
