Chetham’s Junior Piano Academy

We are thrilled to continue the Junior Piano Academy in 2021 after the huge success in 2020.

The Junior Piano Academy welcomes all levels from grade 1 to young concert artists. This year the course is preceded by two online days – 7 and 8 August 2021.

Who the course is for

The Academy is open to pianists who are under 18. NB Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a parent at all times.

All levels of pianists are welcome  from grade 1 through to young artists preparing for international competitions. The outstanding facilities and unrivalled faculty will ensure inspirational learning.

Course options

The standard piano programme is designed around four basic course options. To view the course content please click on the links below:

• Elementary • Suitable for pianists currently working between grades 1-3
• Intermediate • Suitable for pianists currently working between grades 4-6
• Advanced • Suitable for pianists currently working between grades 7-8
• Young Artist • Suitable for pianists who are diploma level and above

Online option

For anyone who is unable to attend the course in Manchester a full online programme has been designed, to include live streaming of all recitals, live group classes, lesson observations, practise sessions and final recitals. We are thrilled to have an outstanding faculty for the online course.

Extra options

In addition to the individual lessons, there will be group workshops, performance classes, evening faculty recitals, practice clinics and much more.

It is possible to book an advice audition during the course and receive written feedback from the Head of Keyboard at Chetham’s, Dr Murray McLachlan, or another member of the piano faculty at the school.

He not only feels it is a place he can concentrate on his music, but he has a great social life too.  He thinks he has made his best friends on the course, people with whom he has a great deal in common.
