Performing Welsh Trad summer school online (Aberystwyth Musicfest)
July 23 @ 2:00 pm - July 24 @ 5:30 pm
About the Aberystwyth Musicfest Online Summer School
For 2021, we are committed to provide you with the world-class, MusicFest experience that you have grown to love. Although we are not able to host our summer school in-person, we are following our 2020 success with a digital summer school experience to provide a selection of courses online led by our internationally renowned tutors.
The Summer School is unique in offering organised, structured chamber music opportunities and coaching, as well as superb learning experiences through the festival of concerts given by the tutors themselves (all of them are leading performers as well as inspirational teachers).
Performing Welsh Trad with Patrick Rimes
For the first time at MusicFest Aberystwyth, we are thrilled to bring you a two-day short course in Welsh roots and trad performance with acclaimed fiddle and pipes player Patrick Rimes.
This specially-designed course is open to anyone who has an interest in performing traditional music, and participants will have the opportunity to learn about performing by ear, the art of folk music in Wales, and collaborative performance techniques.
Led by Patrick, the participants will also have an opportunity to perform and produce a new track that will be released and premiered as part of MusicFest’s 2021 digital content. This is one not to miss!
- You can request a space on this course here. Applications will be reviewed, and if accepted we will send full information on course joining and fee payment via email. We aim to respond within 7 days to your reservation request.
Fees and financial support
- The tuition fee for this course is £200.
- Musicfest Aberystwyth welcomes bursary students from all over the world and prides itself on offering high-quality, intensive training for music students, graduates, and music professionals. We do not wish finance to be a barrier to attending our Summer School so our bursaries (funds towards the cost of fees) are available to help students, graduates and young musicians attend our courses. Friends of MusicFest provide bursaries towards MusicFest Aberystwyth course fees for students in full-time education. The number of bursaries available is limited, so it is essential you apply as soon as possible. For more information and how to apply, please visit our Fees and Bursaries page.
