Be a Better Flute Player – Part 2: Phrasing

January 30 @ 10:00 am - 10:45 am GMT
Virtual Event

Join St Mary’s Music School online for a free workshop on phrasing, led by Lis Dooner.

This session focuses on phrasing and some simple techniques you can learn to improve your skills. We use a demonstration lesson between pupil and teacher as our example and you are welcome to play along or to simply watch. There will be the opportunity to ask any questions as we go along.

Who is this for?

This is recommended for players Grade 3 and under. Teachers are welcome to attend.

Above Grade 3? The techniques covered in this session are applicable to all grades are are also taught at Conservatoire level. We have suggested a grade level due to the pieces being played and the age of the pupil involved. If you are above Grade 3 you are still welcome to attend.

Tutor: Lis Dooner

Lis Dooner played with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra for 25 years and today she teaches baroque and concert flute at St Mary’s Music School and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She is much in demand as a visiting tutor on flute courses where she has worked alongside Sarah Newbold, Wissam Boustany, Ruth Morley and Ian Clark.
