The Hallé has announced the second edition of its competition which will take place in Manchester in the spring of 2023, supported again by the global technology firm Siemens AG.

The first Siemens Hallé International Conductors Competition in 2020 received applications from 287 candidates across 55 countries. The competition’s inaugural winner and the Hallé’s current Assistant Conductor was Delyana Lazarova (pictured above), already a popular figure with audiences and musicians, and celebrated for ‘her boundless energy and musical insight’.

The 2023 competition will reward the talents of another emerging conductor with a minimum two-year engagement as Assistant Conductor of the Hallé, during which they will develop their skills under the mentorship of the Halleě’s Music Director Sir Mark Elder.

The competition will take place over three days in March 2023, culminating with the final on Tuesday 14 March in the Bridgewater Hall where the winner will be announced. The final will be a public event, with tickets available from Monday 16 May 2022.
