Duolingo, the language learning app with over 500 million users, is developing a music app that will teach basic concepts in music theory using popular songs. A job listing on Duolingo’s career page describes the app and states that the company has a small team working on the project.
Duolingo is hiring a learning scientist who is an ‘expert in music education’ to support the app’s development. The music app is one of several auxiliary projects that Duolingo is working on beyond language learning, including a math app and an English literacy app for children. Duolingo’s expansion into other subjects has helped it more than double its paid subscriber base in the last year, with total revenue nearly doubling at $369.5 million for 2022.
