Starting on Monday, 11 October, the long-established music education organisation Community Music is launching a 10-week online course leading to an Education and Training City and Guilds 7303 teaching qualification for the lifelong learning sector.

Specifically aimed at musicians who want to diversify into teaching in community arts settings for all ages, the course covers teaching methods, styles of learning, teaching repertoire and curriculum models, among a range of subject areas.

Over 38 years, Community Music has been teaching music leaders who have gone on to work in schools, colleges, universities, prisons and arts and music organisations. With community music projects increasingly seen as an aid to mental health and wellbeing across communities following the trauma of lockdown, there is increasing demand for expert teachers in the field.

Although run online, the Music Leaders Training Course is led by a team of expert tutors who give support across the full course, and students interact to develop creative ideas and friendships.

The course costs £597 with a £200 discount for MUSIC:ED readers. More details can be found here.
