Stephen Threlfall, Director of Music at the leading specialist UK music school, Chetham’s, has announced that he will retire in September 2019 after what will be 24 years’ service.
During his tenure, the profile of Chetham’s has been significantly enhanced, with projects including the new Stoller Hall building. The school will celebrate its 50th anniversary in Stephen Threlfall’s final year as Director of Music.
Alun Jones, Principal at Chetham’s, said:
‘I am delighted that Steve has agreed to remain closely involved with Chetham’s and to support me and the School as we investigate new opportunities for development at home and abroad. The search for Steve’s replacement will commence in the early Autumn and I am so grateful to him for letting me know his future plans in such good time to ensure we can recruit a worthy successor!’
