International examinations board ABRSM has launched Play On, a new area on the organisation’s website which provides a mix of features, advice, competitions and free resources and gives people a chance to share their music making.

ABRSM is also publishing a free piece of music every Monday to Friday at 2pm BST. The collection will include a variety of pieces from ABRSM publications, with piano accompaniments where needed, and will be shared across their social media channels and their website.

Recently added content includes:

  • The Commonwealth Resounds charity is running The Commonwealth Coronavirus Composition Challenge, a competition to encourage young people around the world to compose a short piece of music in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. There are also lots of great benefits too for the young people who take part. The competition closes on 1 July 2020.
  • To celebrate the release of ABRSM’s Singing for Musical Theatre repertoire lists for Grades 4 and 5, users can listen to a rendition from Les Mis.
