13-year-old DJ student opens Amsterdam music festival

Future DJs CEO, Austen Smart, with DJ Sandro Charmers

Sandro Charmers, and 13-year-old DJ student from the UK, performed on the main stage at the opening of the 2019 Amsterdam Open Air Festival on 1 June.

A pupil at Birkdale High School, near Liverpool, Sandro has been learning to DJ at school for over two years as part of an in-school programme led by music startup, FutureDJs. His tutor saw a natural talent on the decks and this led to an invitation to take part in the Amsterdam festival.

Austen Smart, CEO of FutureDJs, said:

‘Sandro is a remarkable artist. His fascination and passion for electronic music will inspire other young people to dream big, practise and persevere. He now has a fantastic opportunity to further his career.’
